Solomon Kim:
---
Creative musician and cellist Solomon Young-Joon Kim and the Atlanta Improvisers Chorus team up to present a set of composed and improvised works, featuring the Atlanta Improvisers Chorus’s premiere of new work Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth, for creative ensemble. Solomon's program includes the premiere of two new works—Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth, for creative improvisation ensemble (with the AIO Chorus), and Erogenous Zones, for solo cello—both reflecting an embodied, gestural musical world built around the human body. Solomon Kim is an experimental improviser, composer, and cellist, and a M.A. student at Wesleyan University studying with Darius Jones. Their practice traverses ritualization, faith, and queer identity, culminating in the singular act of performance.
AIO Chorus:
---
The Atlanta Improvisers Orchestra Chorus (AIOC) is a vocal ensemble committed to spontaneous music-making and conducted improvisation, using a hand-sign system developed by conductor Butch Morris. The ensemble brings together singers from diverse musical and personal backgrounds, celebrating and developing individual creativity alongside traditional choral techniques such as blend, harmony, and ensemble cohesion. In 2025, the AIOC has actively workshopped and premiered new compositions that reflect its core values: creative risk-taking, inclusive collaboration, and the expressive power of both collective and individual voices. Recent commissioned works include pieces by Majid Araim, Lauren Neefe, Solomon Kim, Monique Osorio, Priscilla Smith, and Duffy.
