Our last show! We started with the catchy jazz rawk of Mothguts, continued with Roger Ruzow and Bryan Fieldin and a couple other guys, Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel, The Vandermark 5, the Atlanta Fourth Ward Improv Ensemble and finally The Engines. In the middle of the show, Ed Hall and Colin Kelley came by to talk about the Atlanta Queer Literary Festival, happening Oct 15-19 at various places around town and concluding at Eyedrum on the 19th. Thanks for listening, and don't miss the 10-year anniversary event at Eyedrum on Saturday October 11th!

In our penultimate show, we played just a few artists/bands, but long sets from each. First up was Lukas Ligeti, who is playing Oct 1st with Klimchak; his Don Buchla Marimba Lumina features prominently in his recordings and you'll get a good intro to that instrument at the upcoming show since Klimchak plays one too. Then we placed a long set by Parachutes, a large electronic/rock ensemble from Iceland, followed by an excerpt of the set by Paal Nilssen-Love and Frode Gjerstad, and finally Thank You, a band from Baltimore, wrapped up the show. Believe it or not, these three groups all played the same night at Eyedrum. Be sure to mark two dates on your calendar: on Oct 5th we'll have our last radio show, and on Oct 11th we'll have our big 10th anniversary party at Eyedrum. Ten freaking years, can you believe it?

Great show this month! We started with Bangers and then Indigovox, two groups that will be playing at Eyedrum in the next month. Then we had a visit in the studio with the guys from the "Get Off The Road" / "Ride Or Die" bike-themed show happening at Eyedrum on August 15th. In between banter we played music by bands performing at that event, including Diamond Jackie, All The Saints, Zoroaster and Android Not Man. Then we played Parachutes, Psychedelic Horseshit, LaDonna Smith with Killick, an Open Improv excerpt, the Frode Gjerstad Trio (at ED again Aug 29th), Roger Ruzow and The 4th Ward Ensemble (Aug 30th), Marc Ribot and finally Francisco Lopez. During voice breaks you could also hear local electronic/noise artist Rajio playing in the background; with Chairlift, he's opening for Ariel Pink on Aug 4th.

In our first set we played live performances by local band Bangers, then Indian Jewelry from Houston, and then a selection from one of the bands playing at the P!X3L8 8-bit festival that you just missed (05-Jul). Then we played a whole set by local electronic act Recompas (recorded 08-May-2008) and then a whole set by El Paso prog rock act Corima (13-Jun-2008). Corima call their style "Zeuhl", say they're influenced by Magma, and sing in an invented language. Rawk!

This month we started with Baby Dee, recorded at Eyedrum in January. Then we played a couple atmospheric / modified guitar pieces by Athens' Colin Bragg, followed by local prog / jazz ensemble Zentropy; both are appearing at Eyedrum again on April 19th. Karen Tauches stopped by to talk about her intriguing Bibliomancy event coming up on April 9th, and we finished off the first half of the show with Noot D Noot and Cadillac Jones from the WRAS benefit held at Eyedrum last December. AND THEN WE MADE A RADICAL TURN and played Congotronics for the rest of the show. Frankly, there's no Eyedrum connection here, except that we've been playing a Congotronics CD at Eyedrum a lot lately, and it's fascinating stuff. This part of the show starts about 74 minutes in.

This month we played live Tree Creature (playing at Eyedrum again on March 12th), MV+EE, Magicicada and Baby Dee (both Feb 25th), and a live recording of Zentropy. Then we peeled paint with a blast of rawk from Psychedelic Horseshit, Times New Viking, White Mice and Sighting, all of which are playing at Eyedrum on various dates in March. We played a few tracks by Beat Circus and Larkin Grimm in anticipation of their Feb 12th show. Then Andy Ditzler from Film Love visited us in studio to tell us about his Tearoom (Feb 22nd) and George Kuchar (Mar 21st) film events. We finished off with a couple Open Improv pieces and one by Kinan.

In a special edition of this show, this month we featured the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen, a pioneer of avant-garde composition who passed away in December. In-studio guests Stuart Gerber and Chris Swartz brought their Stockhausen collections and knowledge and helped put together a great show reviewing the career of this iconic figure in modern music. Towards the end of the show we also played music by Kinan, Zentropy, Laromlab and Speechless.

Lots of long jazz pieces in this month's show. We opened with Victor B. Bicycle and Colin Bragg recordings from Nov 2nd's Film Love Festival; followed with several live performances by Roger Ruzow and the Atlanta Fourth Ward Improv Ensemble. We played some really great free jazz by Wick / Radding / Greenwald and then some atmospheric electronics by Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel; both ensembles will be playing at Eyedrum on Tue Dec 4th. You'll also hear the Plastic People Of The Universe (played Sep 19th), the Vandermark 5 (most members of which are appearing at Eyedrum as The Engines on Dec 15th), Kevin Dunn and King Rat. We finished off with an excerpt from the most recent monthly Open Improv.

This month's show centered on the Unbuilt Atlanta art show that opens at Eyedrum on Sept 8th and continues for about a month. In-studio guests Karen Tauches, Tom Zarilli, Kemp Mooney, David Hamilton and Nat Slaughter talked about architecture, development, design and all matters related to the theme of Atlanta's constructed environment. We also played plenty of music, generally in the jazz / freeform / ambient / modern veins, including music by Plastic People Of The Universe, Keenan Lawler, Tony Conrad, Konk Pack, Bent Frequency and GFE.

This month we played a whole lot of Mothguts' set from July, some things by
Erik "Killick" Hinds and LaDonna Smith (who will be playing as a duo on
August 9th), and a long song by Philly psych band Radio Eris. Then we had
Gavin Frederick of Stickfigure Records visit us in studio and tell us about
some bands that are playing two showcases that he's doing at Eyedrum on
August 10th and 24th. We played selections by Sorry No Ferrari, Big Penguin,
13 Day Mission, Jaggery and Envie. A pretty good show, download it and check it out!
